At the meeting, Xu Ningning, executive director of the China ASEAN Business Council, said that in the face of the current severe global epidemic and economic situation, it is the common need of both sides to enhance cooperation between China and ASEAN. The cooperation between the two sides in the traditional Chinese medicine industry is one of the important cooperation tasks to be promoted urgently. One belt, one road to the Chinese medicine industry, should be included in a series of cooperation, including the implementation of the consensus reached by the leaders and the government, in the industrial cooperation, interconnection and cooperation, and sustainable development cooperation between the two sides. In the cooperation of opening up the market in RCEP region, highlight the importance and urgency of cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine industry. Government departments, research institutions, industry organizations and other relevant parties of the two sides should make joint efforts to solve the difficulties and bottlenecks restricting industry cooperation, so as to enhance the cooperation of traditional Chinese medicine industry and contribute to the construction of human health community and the recovery and growth of regional economy.
Xu Ningning pointed out that the action plan for implementing the joint declaration of China ASEAN strategic partnership for peace and prosperity (2021-2025), which is being implemented, clearly requires: "focus on cooperation in the protection, development and integration of traditional medicine and complementary therapy into the health care system in accordance with national priority areas and domestic Regulations". Combined with the theme of this year's China ASEAN cooperation year for sustainable development, the two sides can promote the cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine as a sustainable development project.

In an interview with reporters, Xu Ningning said that at present, the epidemic in ASEAN countries is still spreading. China and ASEAN are further strengthening anti epidemic cooperation.
